Augusta man arrested in downtown shooting

An Augusta man was arrested Sunday after police say he shot another man in the face.

Levi Frank Jr., 29, of Third Street, is charged with felony aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to Richmond County jail records.

A Richmond County sheriff’s deputy conducting a traffic stop near Broad and Third streets heard a gunshot about 8:30 p.m. Saturday before a man approached and said, “Officer, I’ve been shot,” according to an incident report.

The victim, Shane Brock, 25, of Augusta, was unable to provide many details other than to say that Frank shot him.

A witness said he heard the two men arguing outside his apartment before the gunshot, according to the report.

Deputies found a revolver near steps at the crime scene. Drops of blood were found in the same area.

Brock was treated at the scene and later taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center.
