Woman pleads guilty in McDuffie County murder

THOMSON -- The Boneville woman accused of killing Jennifer Kitchens Wells in 2011 pleaded guilty Thursday in McDuffie County Superior Court.

Tina Wells pleaded guilty to malice murder and was sentenced to life in prison. She also pleaded guilty to armed robbery and was sentenced to 20 years’ confinement for that charge. The armed robbery sentence will be served consecutively with the life sentence.

Jennifer Kitchens Wells’ ex-husband, Ricky Charles Wells, pleaded guilty to malice murder and felony murder in December 2013. He was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences.

According to authorities, he and his girlfriend, Tina, took part in the 2011 slaying of his ex-wife, who was dragged several miles after her death. Ricky and Tina Wells were charged individually and as co-conspirators with malice murder, two counts of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault, one count of armed robbery, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and three counts of aggravating circumstances.

The indictment against the couple stated that the death of Jennifer Wells, 36, was outrageously and wantonly vile, horrible and inhuman in that it involved depravity of mind because the victim was shot several times and dragged behind a motor vehicle for several miles.
