Police revise report on shooting

Richmond County deputies found a 39-year-old injured man Wednesday morning on Belair Road. The man, found about 5:30 a.m., initially appeared to have a gunshot wound.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Capt. Calvin Chew, examinations determined the wound was inconsistent with a gunshot.

The man, David James Towns, was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center with what were described as injuries that were not life-threatening.

Deputies were still investigating Wednesday night, and a suspect description had not been released.
