Augusta man accused of shooting 2, police say

An Augusta man was arrested Tuesday after police say he fired on two men on Brown Street last week.

Frederick McArthur Nelson, 21, of Brussel Street, has been charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault and one count of felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to Richmond County jail records.

About 8:43 p.m. on April 16, deputies met with Marcel Hankins, 39, and Michael Scott, 30, who say they were standing on the porch of a home in the 1400 block of Brown Street when a car occupied by three black males pulled up and fired several shots in their direction, according to an incident report.

Hankins sustained a gunshot wound to his right buttocks, and Scott suffered gunshot wounds to his right foot and left hip. Deputies found the men in the rear of the house, and both were taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment.
