Cash reward offered in local robberies

Authorities are offering a cash reward to anyone who provides the location and identity of a suspect accused of robbing two local businesses this past weekend.

The suspect, described as a light-skinned black male between 18 and 30 years old, was seen Saturday entering the Waffle House on 3411 Mike Padgett Highway with a Wal-Mart bag over his right hand. The suspect is being accused of jumping the counter, demanding money from the cashier, and leaving with an unknown amount of cash, according to a statement from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Early Sunday, deputies responded to the Sprint gas station at 3444 Mike Padgett Highway in regards to a robbery, the statement said. The suspect is believed to be the same man involved in the Waffle House robbery, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect was described as wearing a black sleeveless shirt (Jack Daniels brand) and red gym shorts. The suspect was also last seen running east towards Apple Valley subdivision.

The reward amount was not made available, but anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (706) 821-1080.
