Man steals car, wrecks it

Authorities are searching for a man who stole a car and wrecked it Thursday.

While shopping at Dollar General on 3250 Deans Bridge Road, victim William Palmer’s four-door Mazda was stolen from the store’s parking lot, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report. Palmer told deputies he left the keys in the vehicle because he wasn’t planning to be inside the store long.

Deputies found the vehicle after it struck a 2006 Ford F-150 at the intersection of Deans Bridge Road and Georgetown Drive. The suspect was last seen running away on Georgetown Drive.

He was described as black, between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11, and 160 to 170 pounds. He was wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts and black shoes.
