Hephzibah man's murder trial enters final phase Wednesday

Closing arguments are set to begin this morning in the murder trial of a Hephzibah man accused of killing his girlfriend.

Todd Goff, 25, has pleaded not guilty to strangling 22-year-old Tiffany Salter on July 7, 2012.

The prosecution closed its case Tuesday with the medical examiner who performed Salter’s autopsy. The cause of death was manual strangulation, she said. Salter also had numerous bruises and abrasions of various ages.

Goff chose not to testify and the defense rested without calling witnesses. His defense attorney told the jury Monday he would ask for a verdict of guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
