Pedestrian hospitalized after hit-and-run in Aiken County in serious condition

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run accident in Aiken County that sent a pedestrian to the hospital Monday.

About 9:30 p.m., a light-colored, four-door vehicle was traveling north on Augusta Road near Anthony Drive when it hit a pedestrian trying to cross the road, Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said.

The vehicle left before police arrived.

The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center and is listed in serious condition.
