Richmond County police hunting two men involved in car dealership theft

Police said two men damaged several vehicles and a gate at a Gordon Highway car dealership Tuesday before driving off with one of the vehicles.

Surveillance video showed two men climbing into the fenced area of Discount Automotive, 1532 Gordon Highway, about 4:20 a.m., according to a police report.

Police said the men rammed a rear gate with a 2004 Dodge Durango and also hit a 1999 Buick Century and a dumpster.

When they could not get through the gate, they jumped into a blue 2001 Ford Expedition. The two men later left that vehicle and got into a white 2002 Ford Expedition, which they used to ram the gate again. After they knocked the gate down onto Gordon Highway, the men drove off in the damaged vehicle.

The Expedition’s GPS led police to Mount Zion Apartments on Amsterdam Drive, where they found it backed into a parking spot by Building 7.

No arrests had been made by Tuesday afternoon, and police continue to investigate the incident.
