Authorities capture child-rape suspect in Augusta

 

A child-rape suspect is in custody after a raid Tuesday morning at an Augusta apartment complex.

James Friedman Patton III, of Greenville, S.C., was wanted by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office on charges of criminal sexual misconduct with a minor under 11 years of age.

The Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force was acting on a tip when it went to an Augusta apartment complex, according to a news release. Patton, who was seen at the front of the residence, ran to wooded area but was captured. He is being held at the Richmond County jail awaiting extradition to South Carolina.
