A Hephzibah man says that his brother-in-law killed his dog last week after stepping in the dog’s droppings.
The 43-year-old victim told police Monday that he began arguing with this brother-in-law, who lives with him on Windsor Spring Road, after he found his Jack Russel terrier dead about 7 a.m. Friday, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report. The dog was found foaming at the mouth.
The victim told police that his brother-in-law admitted to killing the dog that morning because he has stepped in the dog’s droppings in the yard. The suspect, however, told police that the victim was accusing him of something he didn’t do.
Police say the brother-in-law was under the influence of prescription pills when he made the statement, and was taken to Doctors Hospital for a mental evaluation.
The victim told police that when he took the dog to a veterinarian, he was told the dog was poisoned.
