Augusta man loses $900 in Masters ticket scam

A 26-year-old Augusta man is out $900 after trying to buy 10 tickets to the 2014 Masters tournament through Craigslist, according to an incident report from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim, who filed the report at the sheriff’s office Tuesday, said he first responded to a $900 ad on Craigslist for 10 Masters tickets in October.

The victim said he met the seller and was shown an official document with the Augusta National seal that stated he had received tickets from the golf course.

The victim made an initial money-order payment of $400 and then a second payment of $500, but since has not received his tickets or been able to reach the seller.
