Murder indictments returned in two Augusta homicides

Two men facing murder charges, including an Augusta man accused of killing a physician who disappeared just before Thanksgiving, were indicted this week.

A Richmond County grand jury issued separate indictments Tuesday against Glenn V. Riggs II, 22, and Ezra T. Lay, 41.

Riggs is accused of killing Dr. Charles Mann III on Nov. 22 after luring the 60-year-old to his Dublin Drive home to rob him.

Lay is accused of shooting 44-year-old James Marshall on Oct. 13. Marshall was found fatally wounded at Carrie and D’Antignac streets.

Both men are scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 17 in Richmond County Superior Court.
