3 charged with stalking, threatening Evans student

Three people are facing terroristic threats and weapons charges, accused of stalking an Evans High School student and firing a handgun outside the teen’s home.

According to Columbia County sheriff’s records, Shawn Keith West, 19, and Robert Deontrae Daniel, 19, both of Valley Park Court in Augusta, and Munde Charnecia Bostic, 17, of Laurel Place in Martinez, were being held Friday at the Columbia County Detention Center on an array of charges that included discharging firearms, having weapons on school property, stalking and making terroristic threats, in connection with an incident that began about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at Evans High.

A sheriff’s report states that an 18-year-old Evans student was getting onto a bus after school when she spotted West and Daniel waiting outside. The girl suspected the two were there for her 19-year-old brother, who had been having a dispute with West. She contacted her brother and told him to avoid the bus and find another way home.

When she arrived at her home on Dresden Drive, she saw West, Daniel and Bostic in a blue Honda Accord driving by slowly. She said the occupants returned later when she was standing in the driveway talking with her brother. The siblings told deputies they saw West and Daniel with handguns. They said they saw West lean out of the passenger window and fire once into the air.

On Thursday, deputies met with Bostic at Evans High School. Bostic confirmed the details of the story told by the siblings, and warrants were issued for her arrest and for West and Daniel. Police also recovered a 9 mm shell from Dresden Drive, the report said.

The suspects are awaiting a hearing before a judge to set bond on the felony charges.
