Fatal stabbing in Warrenton

WARRENTON, Ga. -- The Warrenton Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating a fatal stabbing that happened Christmas Eve.

Authorities said they were called to Depot Street for an altercation. One victim, John Norman Thomas, 64, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital-McDuffie, where he later died.

Authorities say Norman and another man got into a fight about 10:30 p.m. and both were injured. The other victim was taken by personal vehicle to the hospital.

So far there are no charges and Pat Morgan, special agent in charge of the GBI regional office, says information is still being gathered and the district attorney will be consulted on possible charges.

Morgan said authorities are still looking for several witnesses who need to be interviewed.
