Man charged in Nov. 17 shooting

A 22-year-old man has been charged in the Nov. 17 shooting that hospitalized an Augusta man.

Kenneth Lavert Anderson has been charged with felony aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a first-time offender, according to Richmond County jail records.

About 10:25 p.m. on Nov. 17, Richmond County sheriff’s deputies found Xavier Alvin, 31, at the intersection of 15th Street and Swanee Quintet Boulevard, with a gunshot wound to the back of his right leg.

Alvin told deputies he was talking on his cell phone when he heard three gunshots and felt a sharp pain in his leg.
