Man sought in robbery of Augusta convenience store

Police are seeking a man accused of robbing the DLS convenience store at 3735 Mike Padgett Highway late Friday, leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.

About midnight, Richmond County sheriff’s deputies were called to the convenience store, where employee Johnnie Finey said a black man entered the store and demanded money from the register, according to an incident report.

Finey told police the suspect had one hand under his shirt, but couldn’t tell whether he had a gun. Finely took cash from the register, put it in a bag and pushed it toward the suspect, who then fled toward Old Waynesboro Road.

The suspect is described as being about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, slim and in his 20s. He was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, a brown baseball cap and sun glasses.
