4 arrested in apartment rental office robbery

Four Augusta men have been charged with armed robbery following a Thursday holdup at Fleming Heights Apartments at 2467 Lumpkin Road.

William Jordan Wilcher, 18, of Hopkins Street; Demarcus Rashad Reynolds, 18, of Mount View Drive; Franklin Jerrod Taylor, 23, of 13th Street; and William Curtis Lewis, 26, of Redoubt Circle, each have been charged with felony armed robbery, according to jail records.

Reynolds has also been charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Mary Valois, 58, told Richmond County sheriff’s deputies a man entered the complex’s rental office, brandished a handgun and demanded money, according to an incident report.

Valois handed the suspect $50. The robber started to leave but returned to her desk and took Valois’ cell phone before walking out.

The suspect then entered the lobby and demanded money from another employee, Dennis Killips, 69. Killips refused, and when the suspect saw that Killips was holding a pair of scissors, he left.
