A man accused of fatally shooting his friend last week is facing additional charges after being linked to a Craigslist robbery.
Richmond County authorities said Dominique Sullivan, 19, is a suspect in the Aug. 27 armed robbery of a 38-year-old North Augusta man.
The North Augustan told police he responded to a Craigslist ad for an Apple iPhone and was told to go to 3447 Pine Hill Road to look at the phone for purchase. He found the residence vacant and was preparing to leave when two men approached with guns and took his wallet, $320 and an iPhone.
Sullivan is facing charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in addition to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Delarrion Smith, 18, on Nov. 11.
Police said Smith picked up Sullivan on Andorra Drive in Hephzibah. In the vehicle, Sullivan began horse-playing with his “very close friend,” and Smith pulled out a .45-caliber pistol and pointed it at Sullivan in a “playful manner.”
Sullivan took the gun, removed the magazine, pointed it at Smith and pulled the trigger, believing the gun was unloaded, police reported.
Smith died at Georgia Regents Medical Center after being shot in the chest.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said the pistol had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Fairfax Street in Martinez overnight Nov. 6.
There have been no leads in the theft case.
