Police still seek Family Dollar holdup suspect

Police continue to search for a Florida man they suspect of robbing a Central Avenue store with two other men on Thursday.


Police said two suspects entered Family Dollar, 1801 Central Ave., around 9:41 a.m. and demanded money at gunpoint. The bandits took an undisclosed amount of cash from the business as well as money and other items from employees and two delivery men.

They fled in a black Chevrolet Caprice driven by a third man.

Police located the vehicle on Battle Row and chased it until it came to a stop at Washington Road and Center West Parkway. All three men ran from the vehicle.

Two suspects, Santwain Ronnie Roberts and Jaron Jermaine Wallace, were captured. Police recovered a gun and money.

Wallace, 23, of Augusta, and Weaver face charges of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and four counts of armed robbery.

Police identified Roberts, 24, of Augusta, as the getaway driver and have charged him with four counts of armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, felony fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, hit and run, driving while not licensed and no insurance.

Johnny Weaver, 39, remains on the loose.
