Shortly after pleading guilty this year to attempted burglary in one case, a 20-year-old Augusta man continued his burglary spree.
On Monday, Desmond Thompson pleaded guilty in Richmond County Superior Court to new charges and received a prison sentence of 15 years followed by five years’ probation.
Thompson was caught May 1 in a stolen car he wrecked after breaking into two south Augusta businesses. A palm print connected him to a April 24 home burglary, and DNA connected him to a March 11 burglary and two other home burglaries in November. Thompson had to provide a DNA sample after he pleaded guilty in February to attempted burglary.
The judge also revoked the remainder of Thompson’s earlier sentence of four years on probation.
