Court affirms teen's murder convictions from 2011

The Georgia Supreme Court affirmed an Augusta teen’s murder convictions in the deaths of a pregnant girl and the child she was carrying.

Loviet N. Edwards was fairly tried and convicted in Richmond County Superior Court in 2011, according the Supreme Court’s decision released Monday.

Edwards was 15 years old when he shot 16-year-old Tykiah Palmer on Ramblewood Drive on Feb. 17, 2010. Palmer died, as did her child, who was delivered after the shooting.

Edwards was sentenced to two terms of life in prison. He is now 19.
