Craig Roberts gets prison term for grocery store holdups

A man who said he held up two grocery stores to pay off his drug debt pleaded guilty Monday to robbery.

Judge J. Wade Padgett accepted the plea agreement and sentenced Craig E. Roberts, 34, to 10 years in prison, followed by 10 years on probation.

Roberts pleaded guilty in Richmond County Superior Court to two counts of robbery for the April 16 holdup at the Kroger on Deans Bridge Road and the robbery of a BI-LO store on Peach Orchard Road the next day.

Robert Fraizer, 32, Roberts’ co-defendant in the robbery cases, has pleaded not guilty.
