Thefts get man 15 years in prison without parole

A man who forced an ex-girlfriend to empty the safe at the restaurant where she worked and empty her bank account pleaded guilty Thursday.

Because of his criminal history of thefts, John D. Maynard must serve his 15-year prison sentence without the possibility of parole.

Maynard, 43, pleaded guilty in Richmond County Superior Court on Thursday to two counts of theft and two weapon violations for the Jan. 11 incidents, which began in Columbia County and ended in Richmond County.
