Augusta man sentenced to maximum prison term for stabbing

An Augusta man who stabbed a woman several times was convicted of aggravated assault Friday in Richmond County Superior Court.

Charles T. Beveridge, 47, was sentenced to a maximum term of 25 years in prison for the assault and a weapons charge.

Beveridge, who was previously prosecuted in New York in connection with another stabbing, was arrested after he stabbed a woman in a Fenwick Street home in the neck and chest Dec. 11.
