Burglars steal $20,000 in hair extensions from Augusta shop

A south Augusta shop owner reported that three men stole about $20,000 in hair extensions from the beauty supply business.

According to a police report, three men pried open the door of Hair Depot, 2944 Deans Bridge Road, shortly before 4 a.m. Thursday and loaded their arms with expensive long extensions.

The men were caught on surveillance video but covered their faces with T-shirts.

It was not the store’s first hair theft.

A woman and a girl were charged with stealing 10 packs of extensions valued at $290 from the store in 2011.

In 2003, two women dragged a male employee about 50 feet with their car when they tried to escape. Police said the employee approached the driver, who grabbed his arm and tried to speed away.
