Augusta man sentenced to prison for threatening to kill woman


An Augusta man accused of threatening to kill a woman – first with a handgun and later with a machete – pleaded guilty Monday.

Tony Timpson, 41, was sentenced to six years in prison followed by 14 years on probation. The assaults on Latoya Williams occurred Oct. 10 and again Nov. 29.

Timpson previously served prison time for shooting an ex-girlfriend and her stepfather in October 1999. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and was paroled in 2008.
