A suspected unlicensed personal care home was inspected in Augusta this week.
A petition for an inspection warrant was granted Wednesday in Richmond County Superior Court for 2200 Central Ave. A spokeswoman for the state Department of Community Heath said Friday the inspection was completed but no further information would be released due to an open investigation.
According to the petition filed Aug. 7, the Health Care Facility Regulation Division received a complaint from a person who was denied access to a family member at the home. An attempt to inspect the home on July 22 was unsuccessful, as the compliance auditor was refused access by a staff member who said all the patients were at doctors’ appointments. When the owner, Al Ferguson, was asked about the home by phone, he said it was just a boarding house, according to the petition.
Ferguson had applied for a permit to operate Mother & Daughter Personal Care Home at the location but his permit was denied.
