Pedestrian identified in fatal accident

 

Police have identified the pedestrian who died in a motorcycle wreck that also killed its driver Sunday in Hephzibah.

According to a Richmond County sheriff’s news release, Marcus Kelly, 23, of Hephzibah, died after he was hit while walking down the 2900 block of Ulm Road about 6:30 p.m. The motorcyclist, Kyterian Jones, 26, of Hephzibah, also died as a result of his injuries.

Police said Jones, who was an off-duty Wrens, Ga., police officer, was out celebrating his birthday when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit two pedestrians and a vehicle.

Jerome Gilmore, 17, the second pedestrian, was treated for a broken leg and a cut to his left leg.
