$10,000 in copper wiring stolen from Washington Road building

The maintenance crew of National Plaza at 2816 Washington Road say the shopping center has been stripped of nearly one ton of copper wiring.

The ¾-inch wiring, valued at more than $10,000, was found to be stolen Friday after maintenance personnel checked the roof of the building that houses Publix Super Market, a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report said. The theft happened between July 7 and July 19.

The wiring was used to ground the building from electricity, the report said.
