A 21-year-old man is accused of stabbing a child with a fork and then trying to cut her mother’s throat.
Police were called to a stabbing in the 2300 block of Getzen Street about 7 p.m. Sunday.
Shannon Cliett, 28, said Ryan Brice Wells stabbed her 10-year-old daughter under the eye with a grilling fork, then attacked her with a knife, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
The child, who had a cut under her eye, said she was in the kitchen feeding two younger children when Wells stuck her with the fork, causing it to bend. She described Wells as “looking strange” and “looking into space” just before the incident.
Cliett, who approached the kitchen after hearing her daughter’s screams, told police Wells met her with a fist to the jaw. He followed her into the living room, where he straddled her on the floor and put a knife to her throat, police said.
Another man in the residence took the knife from the suspect.
Cliett had injuries to her hands and wrists and a cut to her throat, police said.
The relationship between Cliett and Wells is not clear, but both live at the Getzen Street home.
Wells was booked into the Richmond County jail on charges of aggravated assault and cruelty to children in the first degree.
