Hephzibah man robbed of $250 at his home

Police are investigating an armed robbery Tuesday in a trailer park in Hephzibah.

John Palmer, of the 4200 block of James Drive, told authorities he answered his door about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday after a man wearing brown shorts and a white T-shirt asked to use his phone, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report. The man, described as being in his early 20s, then pointed a 9-mm handgun at Palmer’s neck and demanded money. Palmer took $250 from his wallet and pushed the gun away when the robber reached for it, the report said. Palmer twisted the man’s arm behind his back, causing him to drop the gun.

The robber broke free and picked up his gun before running toward the back of the trailer park. He also got away with the money, according to the report.
