Augusta man accused of showing obscene material to children

A 57-year-old Augusta man arrested Friday evening is accused of showing obscene materials to minors.

Indal Deo Sookraj, of Wood Street, is charged with two counts of electronically furnishing obscene material to minors, Richmond County jail records show.

An Augusta man told authorities that his 11-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter went to Wood Street to receive groceries around 5:15 p.m. Friday, an incident report said. When the children returned, the daughter said Sookraj had shown them a video on his phone of a woman exposing herself.

When asked what the woman was wearing, the girl told deputies “a pink shirt with white sleeves,” the report said. The boy said he was also shown the video.

When deputies made contact with Sookraj, they found a video of a woman in a pink shirt with white sleeves exposing herself on his phone. Sookraj was then arrested and taken to jail.
