6 arrested in Augusta man's homicide

Six arrests have been made in Sunday’s fatal shooting of an Augusta man in Louisville, Ga., which authorities say was gang-related.

Kenneth Quarterman Jr., 23, and Charles Lewis Brown III, 25, of Wrens, were both shot in the head at least once. Brown, who survived, was also shot in the hand.

Autopsy results from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Augusta on Quarterman are still pending.

District Attorney Hayward Altman, of the Georgia Middle Judicial Circuit, said at a news conference Thursday that 11 arrest warrants have been issued in the shootings.

“All I can say is, we had a tragedy,” Jefferson County Sheriff Gary Hutchins said. “We’re going to go forward with this investigation.”

Altman said the arrest warrants were issued Wednesday.

“This is a very serious case,” he said. “Everybody involved has done a very good job.”

The six men arrested as of Thursday are Jermaine “AJ” “Rude Bei” Allen Barrington, 21; Ivey Lamar Elam, 19; Rajonte Romelle “Row” McGruder, 22; Dontavius Tramez “T” Meadows, 27; Jason Robert “Jay Will” Williams, 26; and Jayrin Anthony “Webbie” Williams, 18.

They have been charged with murder.

Altman said that all the suspects lived in Augusta but that some have ties to Jefferson County.

Authorities are still looking for Lafayell Deshon “Smooch” Williams, Octavius Desmond “Tay Tay” Hickson, Dalonte Jerrod “Big J” “Blac Boss” Tarver, Damien Vashoul “Bam” Simpkins and Shinique L. “Nik” Flournoy.
