Police capture mother who fled with children

Timpson

Authorities have captured a woman who Aiken police said violated a court order that had put her children in the custody of social services.

According to a news release, Erica Timpson, 24, of Alene Circle in Augusta, became aware of the court order, took her children – a 4-year-old and 2-year-old twins – from an alternative caregiver’s home and left the county.

The South Carolina Department of Social Services obtained the court order Wednesday.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, found Timpson and her children in the 2900 block of Vanessa Drive in Augusta on Thursday. She was arrested and taken to the Richmond County Detention Center.
