Aiken man charged in child exploitation case

An Aiken man accused of possessing and distributing child pornography has been booked on 22 counts of child exploitation.

According to an Aiken County Sheriff’s Office news release, an undercover investigation that began April 20 prompted investigators to obtain and execute a search warrant at the home of Ronald Gene Gardner.

Gardner, 53, surrendered to investigators Wednesday after warrants were obtained Tuesday.

He has been charged with 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree for possession of child pornography and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor second degree for distribution of child pornography.
