Two suspects in two downtown assaults in early May have been extradited to Richmond County.
Robey Eugene Moses, 21, and Domonique Shantae Hale, 19, had been held in Newberry, S.C., since Friday for charges related to the May 2 robbery of a man who was accosted as he left a Broad Street bar.
According to an incident report, two people hit a 29-year-old Beech Island man from behind as he was leaving Riverfront Pub about midnight and took his wallet, phone and vehicle. A deputy found the semi-conscious man lying on the ground.
Moses also faces charges in the brutal beating of a South Carolina couple on Augusta Riverwalk on May 3. Police are also seeking Kevin D. Richardson, 21, as a suspect in the riverwalk attack.
In the riverwalk case, police said two men robbed the couple and beat them with metal bats or pipes. One of the victims was admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
Moses has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and three counts of robbery by force.
Hale has been charged with one count of robbery by force.
Moses and Hale were arrested about 8:30 p.m. Friday at a home in the city of Newberry where family members of Moses live. Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster – whose office, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Fugitive Task Force and the Newberry Police Department are credited with arresting the suspects – said the home’s residents were unaware he was being sought by police.
A $10,000 reward has been offered to anyone providing information that leads to the arrest or conviction of the men responsible for the riverwalk attack.
