Robbery suspects could return to face charges today

Two suspects arrested in South Carolina in connection with two recent downtown assaults will likely return Tuesday to face charges in Augusta, police said.

Robbey Eugene Moses, 21, of Lumpkin Road, and Dominque Shantaee Hale, 19, of First Street, remained in Newberry, S.C., on Monday at the Newberry County Detention Center, according to Richmond County Sheriff’s Lt. Calvin Chew. The two were arrested Friday in connection with a May 2 robbery of a man who was accosted as he left a Broad Street bar. Moses also faces charges in the brutal May 3 beating and robbery of a South Carolina couple on Riverwalk Augusta.

Chew said the two will likely return to Augusta on Tuesday, but declined to be more specific, citing security reasons.

Another suspect in the riverwalk attack, Kevin D. Richardson, 21, remained at large Monday night. A $10,000 reward has been offered to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the men responsible for the assault.
