Pizza deliveryman robbed at vacant house

A Papa John’s Pizza employee told police he was robbed while delivering pizzas on James Drive Sunday afternoon.

According to an incident report, the 50-year-old employee at Papa John’s, 2416 Windsor Spring Road, arrived at a residence he said appeared vacant at 3903 James Drive around 1:30 p.m.

Police said a man opened the door, brandished a black handgun and demanded the deliveryman’s money, wallet and cell phone. The deliveryman, who did not have a cell phone, handed over $20. He told police the robber took the money, mumbled something under his voice and shut the door.

The deliveryman left with the pizzas and returned to the store to call police.

Deputies found the home vacant.
