Domestic violence leads to new assault prosecution

An Augusta man previously convicted of stabbing the mother of his child pleaded guilty Monday to a new charge of aggravated assault.

Louis Mintze, 28, pleaded guilty in Richmond County Superior Court, accepting a plea negotiation that wrapped up the new assault case and an unrelated drug case. Judge J. David Roper accepted the negotiation and sentenced Mintze to five years in prison, followed by 10 years’ probation.

Mintze was charged with aggravated assault and destruction of personal property for an April 5, 2011, incident in which he forced a vehicle containing Krystle Whitaker and Glenn Bostic off the road. Mintze pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in 2008 to stabbing and cutting Whitaker.
