Store owner thinks robber came back again

An Augusta convenience store owner who has been the victim of two attempted armed robberies in the past month thinks both involved the same man, who threatened to kill him for the money in his cash drawer.

Srikantappa Subbanna’s store, the Food Mart at 202 E. Boundary St., was targeted again Saturday at 11:45 p.m.. Subbanna reported that a black man about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 240 pounds entered his store to make a purchase.

Subanna said he saw “blemishes on the man’s hands,” which he said were similar to the marks he noticed on a man who attempted to rob him on March 28 at 3:55 a.m.

In March, Subbanna said his robber, armed with a silver handgun and wearing a red jacket and ski mask, threatened to kill him, but fled after Subanna locked himself inside a bullet-proof cash booth.

Both incidents were caught on surveillance videos, which deputies plan to review.
