Former prison worker indicted on charge of trading with inmates

An Augusta woman has been indicted on a charge of trading with inmates.

The Richmond County grand jury returned the indictment Monday accusing Melissa Lenett Brown, 34, of selling cell phones and tobacco to an inmate at Augusta State Medical Prison in January 2012 and again on Jan. 15 of this year. 

Brown, a former employee at the prison, could be arraigned in Richmond County Superior Court next month.
