Police seeking burglars who stole rifles from Augusta pawn shop

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in finding two suspects who burglarized a Broad Street pawn shop Saturday night.

According to an incident report, two white men broke into Mr. Pawn at 501 Broad St. about 9:15 p.m. and stole an undetermined number of rifles.

Investigator Charles Mulherin said the men broke through a locked gate and a heavy metal door in the rear of the business to gain access. He said authorities should know how many weapons were stolen after an audit by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is completed, but no handguns appeared to be missing.

Anyone with information about the burglary should call Mulherin at (706) 724-9983. The sheriff’s office said all calls will be handled confidentially,
