Man pleads guilty to child molestation

An Augusta man whose crime was concealed for years pleaded guilty in Richmond County Superior Court to child molestation Monday.

Freeman B. Ashley Jr., 22, was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 15 years of probation for two counts of child molestation. Chief Judge J. Carlisle Overstreet accepted the plea deal that reduced the charge from aggravated child molestation and set the punishment.

Ashley was arrested in October for molesting a girl for years, starting in 2006 when she was about 7 years old.
