A Harlem man wanted in several jurisdictions was arrested Tuesday after police discovered he was armed while receiving post-operative care at Amara Health Care.
According to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report, a representative from the facility at 2021 Scott Road contacted police about 8:40 a.m. after a staff member saw a firearm on the patient.
Sheriff’s deputies found a loaded pistol in the waistband of Robert David Albright Jr.
Albright, 33, had been admitted to the facility in December for post surgery rehabilitation for injuries sustained in an accident, the report stated.
The reporting officer verified through records that Albright was wanted by the Harlem Police Department and sheriff’s offices in McDuffie and Columbia counties.
Police said he was convicted of felony drug charges in McDuffie County in 2006.
Albright, who was confined to a wheelchair, was taken to the Richmond County jail.
