Augusta mother faces child abuse charges

An Augusta mother is in jail, accused of abusing her son.

The boy sought help about 10 p.m. Tuesday at a neighbor’s home in the 4400 block of Peach Orchard Road in Hephzibah, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office news release. The child told the neighbor his mother had assaulted him when she was intoxicated and he feared for the safety of his sibling, according to the release.

Deputies found the boy had bruises on his chest, chin, forehead, neck, elbow and face and bite marks on his cheek, ear, shoulder and the back of his head. The other child was not injured.

Crystal Lynne Quick, 41, was booked into the Richmond County jail on charges of felony cruelty to children in the first degree and a misdemeanor charge of cruelty to children in the third degree.
