Bond granted for Richmond County homicide suspects

Bond was set Friday for two people facing murder charges in unrelated homicides in Augusta.

A $55,000 bond was set for Verdre L. Scott Jr., 16, who is being held in a juvenile detention facility and is accused of causing the Dec. 19 death of a friend, 16-year-old Martez S. Davis. Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged Scott with felony murder because they say he and Davis were trying to rob James Gibbons Jr., 17, on Amsterdam Drive when Davis was killed. Gibbons and Davis exchanged gunshots, and Davis was fatally wounded.

A $40,000 bond was set Friday in Richmond County Superior Court for Leslie D. Blair, 41, who has been charged with murder in the Dec. 5 death of Michael Wickert.

Sheriff officers found Wickert, 48, dead from stab wounds and blunt trauma in the bathtub of his home on Keron Way in Hephzibah. Joseph Leon-Guerrero, 33, and Larry Norton Jr., 31, also face a charge of murder in Wickert’s slaying.
