2 Best Buy employees say man assaulted them while trying to shoplift

Two Best Buy employees say they were assaulted Thursday after confronting a customer in the men’s restroom of the store.

According to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report, several employees entered the restroom shortly before 1 p.m. to confront a customer in a stall who was attempting to cut store merchandise out of its packaging.

Police said the man charged the employees standing in the doorway. One of the employees told police he was either elbowed or punched in the chest as the customer fled.

The customer then ran into the store and hit another employee in the rib cage with his shoulder. He drove away in a black Lincoln Navigator.

Police said employees found two Xbox 360 video games in a toilet bowl.
