Woman reports purse stolen during Kroger visit Christmas Eve

Columbia County authorities are trying to identify two people in connection with a Christmas Eve purse theft from a supermarket.

A Grovetown woman said she was shopping at Kroger, 4115 Columbia Road, about 3 p.m. Monday and briefly left her purse unattended in the shopping cart to look at merchandise, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

When she returned to the cart, the 60-year-old woman said, she discovered her wallet missing, according to the report. The wallet contained several store credit cards, her Social Security card, a debit card and $40.

A purchase was made at Target with one of the stolen cards, police say.
