Reco Hurley standing trial in 2011 beating death of George Burnett

Witnesses began testifying Tuesday afternoon in the murder trial for an Augusta man accused of causing the death of a 50-year-old man who died months after being robbed and beaten in 2011.

Reco Hurley, 33, has pleaded not guilty in Richmond County Superior Court. His trial resumes at 9 a.m. Wednesday with prosecution witnesses.

Hurley faces a charge of murder in the Dec. 14, 2011, death of George Burnett. Sheriff investigators believe Hurley beat Burnett during a robbery in front of a boarding house on the 1600 block of Cleveland Street on Jan. 2, 2011.
